Prior to founding New Albany Capital Partners, LLC, John served as the lead
portfolio manager of a U.S. long-short equity hedge fund and managed discretionary “wrap” accounts for both regional
and national brokerage sales professionals.
In his career as a portfolio manager, John has appeared in print as well
television, both regionally and nationally, offering perspectives regarding individual securities and domestic market
John began his career in financial services as an investment banker for
a regional securities firm. His experience includes analyzing and structuring not only municipal bond but also taxable
bond underwritings and private placements for clients in many areas of the United States and its Territories.
As an Adjunct Professor at Franklin University (2000-2002), John helped
develop the University’s undergraduate course on portfolio management (FINA 415).
John also helped develop the University’s first course on financial engineering (FINA/MBA 670) covering interest
rate and equity derivative pricing, trading, and valuation.
A former U.S. Marine, he is a 1991 graduate of The Ohio State University. Additionally,
John received the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1999. Presently,
he maintains active memberships with the CFA Society of Columbus and the CFA Institute.
